Do you ever feel like your life is torn into many smaller “lives” and sewn together?

If life were a quilt, each square would represent one of our mini-lives. We use this terminology all the time. Let’s see, we have our…

  • work life
  • home life
  • spiritual life
  • physical life
  • married life

I’ve tried so many ways to stretch the compartmentalized  “God fabric” in my life.  And it doesn’t usually stretch very far.

As a Christian, can our lives really be divided into ordinary and sacred?

Allow me to suggest that everything is sacred. We only have one life. God wants to be in all of it.

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering” (Rom. 12:1 MSG).

My everyday, ordinary life-

Peeling carrots,

Sweeping cheerios off the floor,

Kissing “owies” when my children fall down,

The fabulous parts of my life when my clothes match and when my hair is fixed…

And my un-fabulous life lived in sweats,

Scrubbing the sink,

Folding laundry,

Stuck in traffic.

My ordinary life of conference calls and emails…

Can I worship God with this?

Yes! And you can too!

That’s what this blog is all about.

Co-discovering with our children- the presence of God and the truth of scripture in every part of life. No separate pieces. No seams. Everything is holy.

“In Him (God)…we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28)
